The Tribunal Regional Federal of the 1^o Região (TRF-1) yesterday (11/11) struck down the injunction granted by the Justiça Federal in Altamira, Pará which suspended the licensing of the Hydroelectric of Belo Monte on the Xingu river. In the decision yesterday night, the TRF-1 accepted the petition of the Advocacia-Geral da União (AGU) to maintain the licensing process for the plant.

 

The injunction determined for suspension of licensing until new public hearings were held of to hear the communities that would be impacted by the enterprise. The Minister of Mines and Energy scheduled the auction for December 21. The Ibama license is necessary in order for the edict to be published.
